Finding Joy in My Backyard Garden

Our backyard was my entire world as a child. Looking back, it probably wasn't that big, but to me then, it felt like the whole universe existed within its boundaries. Growing up in the countryside, we didn't have fancy playgrounds or expensive toys. But that never limited our imagination or creativity.

After school, we'd naturally gravitate towards the yard. Marbles, shuttlecock kicking, territory-claiming games... just mentioning these names floods me with memories. I vividly remember playing football with a ball made of cloth wrapped tightly together. When we finally got a real football, the joy was indescribable. It felt like we'd discovered buried treasure.

The games we played with neighborhood kids are unforgettable too. Wall-tapping, tag, and "cops and robbers"... We'd use rock-paper-scissors to decide roles, then dash around the entire village. In hindsight, these might seem like simple games, but through them, we learned teamwork and the importance of rules.

By today's standards, our childhood might be considered "underprivileged". Culture was a distant concept, and our play options were extremely limited. But even in those "meager" times, we were happy. Perhaps it was precisely this environment that made us stronger and more creative.

Though we lacked material wealth, our childhood had its own kind of richness. Through simple games, we learned life's most important values. Friendship, the power of imagination, and gratitude for small things... These were lessons no expensive toy or flashy playground could teach.

That's why I sometimes miss our old backyard. It wasn't just a play area; it was where my most precious memories and life lessons took root. The experiences in that small yard formed the foundation of my life and became the driving force behind who I am today.

The world has changed a lot since then, but those memories remain vivid. Sometimes I wish I could go back and meet my younger self, playing in that yard. Those pure childhood memories have become a precious asset, comforting and strengthening me amidst the complexities of adult life.
