The Enduring Power of Faith

Life's journey is peppered with moments of profound realization. For me, such a moment arrived when I moved to the United States. At 45, as I set foot on new soil, I found myself calculating the remainder of my life. The realization that I had 20 years - 40 semesters - until 65 filled me with an overwhelming sense of possibility. "Now I can truly do what I've always wanted," I thought, brimming with hope.

But time, as it turns out, is a curious thing. Those 20 years vanished in the blink of an eye, and suddenly 17 years post-retirement had slipped by. It feels as vivid as yesterday. Now, at 81, I'm uncertain how much longer I have. Perhaps until 85, giving me another four years?

Experiencing time's rapid passage has led me to a deep understanding: the time we're given is incredibly short. This realization prompted a decision - to focus on what's most meaningful and fulfilling in my remaining years.

For me, that meant teaching the Bible and living by its principles. The belief that this world isn't eternal, and the faith in the Second Coming and the world thereafter as described in the Bible, became the cornerstone of my existence. This faith became the driving force of my renewed life, and I devoted my energy to sharing it with my family and others.

Life may be brief, but its significance can be immeasurable depending on the values we pursue and the life we choose to lead. For me, it was faith, but for others, it might be something entirely different. What's crucial is finding your own values and living for them. When we do this, our fleeting lives gain eternal worth.

Reflecting on the passage of time, I've come to recognize both the finiteness of life and its infinite potential. The excitement and hope I felt at 45 when embarking on a new beginning, and the journey I've lived since then, all hold profound meaning. Though time has flown, I've spent it realizing what matters most to me.

For whatever time I have left - be it four years or more - I'll continue living for the values I believe in. Teaching and living by the Bible's principles is my ultimate goal and life's meaning. This way of life has brought me deep satisfaction and peace.

Living meaningfully until life's final moment - that's what I believe to be the true value of existence. Time may rush by, but the value of that time changes based on our choices and how we live. I've done my best with the time I've been given, and I'll continue to do so. This is the greatest insight I've gained from life, and it forms the core of my life philosophy.
