Documenting Life’s Journey

As I reflect on my life's journey, I've come to deeply appreciate the value of knowledge and experience. My path, exploring the realms of theology, scripture, and literature, has been unique. While other artistic domains like fine arts or music remained unfamiliar to me, I believe this actually sharpened my focus on my areas of expertise.

The relentless learning and exploration of my youth imparted a crucial lesson: the knowledge and experiences we accumulate don't vanish with us. There's an old saying that "tigers leave their skin when they die, but humans leave their name." I've come to interpret this 'name' differently. I believe that truly 'leaving one's name' means documenting one's life and wisdom.

Whenever I had the chance to preach at various churches, I'd advise young pastors to write and publish books. "Try to publish a collection of sermons every three years. You could have at least five books in 20 years." Some actually followed this advice and published five books. Their children can now take pride in the fact that their father's sermons have been preserved in print.

In our rapidly changing modern society, there's talk of AI being able to write sermons. However, I believe that in such times, it's even more crucial to document our lives. While AI might combine information, it can't replicate our unique experiences and insights.

Leaving a trajectory of one's life, recording its traces and footprints, is perhaps the most beautiful legacy we can leave in this world. Whether through books or writings, documenting one's life in one's own way is the true path to leaving a name. These records will become precious gifts to future generations, conveying our wisdom and experiences.

Our lives are precious and valuable. It's important to challenge ourselves to record this value. This isn't about becoming famous, but about providing evidence of our existence and passing wisdom to the next generation. Our unique experiences and insights will become our true 'name' - something no artificial intelligence can ever replace.
