Embracing Your Strengths and Weaknesses: Life’s Marathon

As I reflect on my life, I realize we all have our strengths and weaknesses. I'm no exception. I remember not having any particular talent in sports or science. Physical education was always a challenge for me. During my school days, I never once came first in a race on the sports field. But when it came to youthful passion, I was second to none.

I recall an incident from 1961, just before entering university. When I heard that pull-ups would be part of the entrance exam, I practiced desperately. I hung from the pull-up bar every day, sweating and striving until I could finally do ten. Looking back, I'm amazed at my passion and effort then.

But as time passes and we age, our bodies change. I can't do pull-ups like I used to. Probably not many in my age group can. Of course, I've heard of some people in their 80s who can still do pull-ups, having exercised consistently since childhood. I can't help but admire their effort and perseverance.

These days, I prefer walking to intense exercise. My arms have thinned, but I try to maintain my health through regular walks. People say I look mentally healthy, but the truth is, I have no special physical abilities beyond walking properly. Running or swimming are still challenging for me.

Through these experiences, I've learned an important lesson. We all have our talents and limitations. While it's crucial to discover and develop our strengths, it's equally important to acknowledge our weaknesses and work on improving them.

Life is like a marathon. It's not about running fast, but about finishing the race. Although I wasn't talented in sports, I'm completing this long marathon of life in my own way, maintaining my health. Perhaps the secret to a balanced life is enjoying this wonderful journey at your own pace, in your own way.
