Words and Melodies: The Pillars of My Life

Throughout the ups and downs of life, I've always sought ways to find inner peace. In the face of stress, that seemingly inevitable fate of modern humans, I'm truly grateful to have discovered my own unique methods of relief.

Since my college days, I've found great solace in writing. Whenever I picked up a pen and poured my thoughts onto a blank page, it felt as if the knots in my heart were slowly unraveling. Whenever problems arose, I sought answers through writing, always accompanied by prayer. Thus, writing and prayer became the two sturdy pillars of my life.

My faith in art has enriched my life even further. Music, in particular, has been food for my soul. The passion that drove me to travel from Daegu to Seoul, sometimes covering great distances, just to attend concerts still brings a smile to my face. The memories of braving cold winters to buy LP records, and the fulfillment I felt listening to the collection I'd amassed, remain some of the most beautiful moments of my life.

Looking back now, I realize how much these hobbies have enriched my life. In our stress-filled modern society, I've always wanted to emphasize how crucial it is for each of us to find our own form of 'rest'.

Of course, much has changed with the passage of time. Now, instead of LP records, I listen to music on my phone. But the comfort and joy that music brings remain the same. I believe that while technology may change, the impact that art has on our souls is eternal.

These experiences have profoundly influenced my theological thinking and pastoral activities. The inner peace and spiritual fulfillment I gained through writing and music added new depth to my sermons and teachings. Through this, I was able to go beyond simply conveying doctrine to my congregation, offering ways to experience and find God in various aspects of life.

Moreover, these hobbies positively impacted my academic research. The cognitive and expressive skills I developed through writing greatly aided me in composing theological papers, while the spiritual sensitivity I gained from music added a new dimension to my biblical interpretation and theological insights.

Ultimately, these experiences of 'rest' helped me grow into a more profound theologian and pastor. Through them, I realized that faith isn't confined to activities within the church, but that we can experience and communicate with God in every moment of our daily lives. This realization became the core of the theological values I've pursued throughout my life.
